Bike Magazine calls Eagle “Singletrack Utopia”
Tess Weaver from Bike magazine spent a few days in town this summer with photographer Jeff Cricco, riding our trails and talking with kids and grownups about mountain biking in Eagle. The story features the Vail Valley Alternative Sports Academy (VVASA) and its co-founder, Mike McCormack, who is a great advocate for all things Eagle. McCormack’s Singletrack Sidewalks initiative has provided kids with an adrenaline-inducing “flow to school” and has garnered Eagle national attention from both media and advocacy groups. In addition, Mike puts on the Eagle Outside Festival and Firebird 40 MTB race in Eagle, which brings bike manufacturers and racers to town from all over the country.
Trail builder Matt Thompson, with Momentum Trail Concepts, is also featured in the story. Momentum Trail Concepts constructed the Haymaker Trail, the Pool & Ice Rink trail re-route and most recently, Extra Credit – the extension to the Haymaker Trail, which will be used in the upcoming Colorado High School Cycling League State Championships in October.
Eagle Mayor Yuri Kostick, the “Mayor of Mountain Biking” and arguably Eagle’s (and Eagle County’s) biggest trails advocate, is quoted in the article, “there’s no turning back from the course we’re on.”
Bring it, Eagle!
Pardon the cliche, but this is awesome…
