Event Details

The 10th annual mushroom & wild food fest returns this year August 2-4, 2019, bringing notable experts in mushroom and wild food foraging, cuisine, cultivation, preservation, and adventuring to our small Colorado town. This year’s speakers include Larry Evans, Katrina Blair, Ken Kassenbrock, Eugenia Bone, Graham Steinruck, and Trent Blizzard.

The Dusty Boot and the Capitol Theatre will host mushroom and wild food classes Saturday morning, and an identification table and a sauté bar in the late afternoon. Unguided foraging will be free and open to the public. Notable classes will include: Mushrooming 101, Nutritional & Medicinal Mushrooms, Best Tasting Wild Foods of the Rocky Mountains, Burn Morel Hunting, Mushroom Remediation of Contaminated Soils, the Preservation of Wild Food, the Culture of Mushrooming, Online Mapping for Mushrooms, and a special class especially for the kids prior to the foray.

New this year, the festival offers an expanded opportunity to taste wild mushrooms with a grand dinner, in addition to the popular wild mushroom sauté bar. The Dusty Boot will host the seven-course wild dinner and wine pairing prepared by forager chef Graham Steinruck on Saturday evening.
