The event formerly known as the Eagle Get Out Expo is taking major steps in 2013. Renamed the Eagle Outside Festival, the event has received a bit of new blood with the addition of longtime cycling industry marketing/PR exec and event promoter Mike McCormack. Mike will oversee the event’s new elements including the inaugural Firebird 40 MTB race, the women’s only Firebird la Femme, and a free Strava Challenge that will allow riders to test their skills against all comers on some of Eagle’s most notable climbs and descents. Mike will also direct the demo and expo component, now titled “The Rocky Mountain Bicycle Expo,” which is patterned after similar dealer and consumer-facing events across the country.
Mike’s addition to the management team frees up Gabrie Higbie to focus on the event’s other big addition, the Mother of a Half 1/2 Marathon. Gabrie will also oversee all of the Eagle Outside Festival partnerships and sponsorships. The event’s marketing and advertising focus is aimed squarely at the Front Range market and dovetails neatly with our community’s desire to position itself as the next great outdoor destination for outdoorspeople of all stripes. Opportunities for local businesses to promote themselves will be available, most notable among them a ‘coupon book’ that will serve as a showcase of our town’s amazing dining, lodging, wellness and outdoor amenities.
