Chamber President, Mick Daly, Juice Plus+, will present the Eagle Chamber’s 2017 Mission and its long-term Vision. The newly elected Board Directors will be announced as well as the recipients of the Business of the Year, Member of the Year and the Ambassador of the Year awards.
‘Building a Better Eagle’ continues to be the program’s theme and it will include a ‘State of the Town’ delivered by Mayor Anne McKibbin and Town Manager John Schneiger.
Clark Anderson, executive director, Community Builders, will address Affordable Housing Solutions with a Q&A to follow his remarks. “How do we address affordable housing in Eagle and the Eagle Valley?”
That is a crux question and one that became both more complicated and more important when voters declined a ballot measure to create a long-term source of funding for affordable housing in Eagle County. Looking ahead, the Town of Eagle, along with others in the valley, will need to find solutions to an issue that looks more and more like a crisis and increasingly difficult to solve.
So, is housing affordability truly a challenge in our community and the valley as a whole? If so, what options do we have to tackle the challenge? How are other communities like ours addressing this challenge? What pitfalls do we need to avoid as we work to bring solutions together into a workable strategy?
Clark will discuss key drivers behind the lack of affordability in our area and the different ways communities like ours can work to tackle the issue.
Following the evening’s program, the Eagle Chamber will host an after-party at Moe’s Original Bar B Que, 630 Grand Avenue.
